Season’s Greetings. The holiday windows have started. I like these. They hark back to the surreal of the old windows. Very well thought out.

The north side and the east side are still shuttered and I probably won’t be able to post those until I get back from Oz in December. Sorry.

I really enjoy this building at night. I like the type treatment, and all of the plants on the 3rd floor really create a great aesthetic. The building becomes an actual installation piece.

Have a Hippy Holiday. I guess it’s the 50th anniversary of the peace sign. I was a bit surprised by these windows.

holiday windows coming!

I really like this shot! I love how he is on the ladder and looking up, she is kneeling and looking to the side…

Stay tuned. I should have all of the NYC holiday 2008 windows from Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Bloomingdales, Macys, Lord & Taylor, and others, posted by Monday morning. Most of the stores currently have their windows shuttered and are constructing their window displays. They are slowly being revealed and my guess is that they are all working towards a Friday deadline.

UPDATE: Nov 17, I walked around in 40°F cold tonight and most of the stores still had their windows down. Ugh. I’m leaving for Australia Wednesday and so won’t be able to post them until December.

Thanksgiving has officially been relegated to the back of the holiday calendar. Most of the stores have their windows shuttered in preparation for the their xmas/hannaukah/kwanzah windows, but Macy’s has their “Miracle at 34th St” windows up. The Broadway windows, though, are still in progress.

They removed the red drop down banner. Too much color? I liked it.

L&T is using special anti-reflective, curved bay style windows. I don’t know what the process is called. I’ve seen these once before at the Steinway Piano shop. They allow amazing clarity and photograph amazingly well. The only problem is that they have that horizontal bar running across to join the curved section to the straight section.
