Why did I stop posting over a year ago? Quite honestly, I burned out on this project. I’m an extremely busy person and the amount of work involved with this site simply became overwhelming. I couldn’t find the time nor the energy to maintain it.
I’ve come up for air, but I’m not sure how I want to proceed. In the meantime, please follow me on Instagram – I find that it is a great way to explore photo ideas.
While I won’t be documenting windows as intensely as before, I will be posting ones that astound. Such as this on on Madison Avenue: Rock & Roll Kids. I will also be posting anything art worthy in general.
I apologize for not explaining sooner.

NY, NY
I forgot about these. I shot these right before Thanksgiving. From the Esprit shop near Rockefeller Center. Which reminds me… I need to go photograph the tree.

NY, NY (Herald Square)
Macy’s has foregone their annual “Miracle on 34th St” windows. This year, the windows are occupied by the characters of the animated special, “Yes, Virginia”, which is a retelling of the true story of 8-year old Virginia O’Hanlon, who, in 1897, wrote a letter to the New York Sun, asking if there were really a Santa Claus. Editor Francis Church’s reply, containing the oft-quoted “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist …”, is, over 100 years later, still very much a part of popular culture.

NY, NY (all along Broadway Ave)
Along Broadway, from Columbus Circle (59th St) to Mitchell Square Park in Washington Heights (168th St), is an outdoor public installation of approximately 18 large animal sculptures created by Peter Woytuk, a sculptor based in China, Thailand, and Connecticut (
website here).
The Morrison Gallery of Kent, Connecticut, the
Broadway Mall Association, and the
New York City Department of Parks and Recreation collaborated to bring the event to light.
I hadn’t heard of the installation and just happened by chance to pass by the two pieces I have posted here, “The Falling Apples” and “3 Big Apples”. They were installed this past October and will be up till this coming April. When I have time during the Christmas break, I will take a long stroll and photograph the entire series.

NY, NY (20th Street)
Attending
Darrin Haddad‘s Holiday party last week, I came upon this artwork in the lobby, which I thought was very nice. I don’t know who made it. I am trying to find out and will let you know.
I am also trying out some new functionality. You can zoom in quite a bit by moving your cursor over the image. This way, I can have a normal-sized image that fits in the post, but if you want to see more, you can easily zoom in. Let me know your feedback. I am thinking of doing a combination of the thumbnail galleries along with a couple of zoomable images (I can’t do all of them as their file size is quite a bit larger in order to support the higher resolution).

NY, NY (Madison & 60th)
Hermés has some nice holiday windows. The windows are covered with an opaque material with layered honeycomb openings allowing a very minimal look into the actual window contents. These are actually very ballsy as they are more about showcasing design and not showcasing product, which I appreciate. As a result though, I am sure that, in the end, that probably adds to the cachet.

NY, NY (Madison & 60th)
These have been up for a while (before Thanksgiving) and probably old hat by now, but here you go… Lady Gaga’s Workshop, along with her boudoir, crystal cave, and very cool motorcycle – this year’s holiday windows at Barneys. There is a dedicated
website here. (make sure to scroll down. there is a lot of hidden stuff below the fold.) And if you go there in person, on the 5th floor is the actual “workshop”. A 5,000+ sq ft holiday shop full of crazy – conceived, designed, and blessed by the Virgin Mary herself.

NY, NY (Madison Ave)
Can’t really see the holiday aspect, but Calvin Klein is showcasing an installation piece, “Black Beacon”, by the British artist, Nathaniel Rackowe (website here.) Consisting of a steel frame and a series of panels that open up, creating a tunnel of light, it is 60 feet long and weighs some 900 kilos.
