Lots of Barneys today. Windows 3-7 contain artwork by Dennis McNett. Very intense and very spooky. The pieces feel heavily influenced by Mardi Gras, Día de los Muertos, and 1970s black light poster art. You should check them out in person if you get a chance.

Cool windows over at Barneys this week. The shirts and ties make for a great photograph. And I like the steam punkish artwork in the Madison Ave side windows. Gotta love the welding kit. Anyone know who created these? (I forgot to check to see if it was labeled on the windows) The “Made to Measure” guy reminds me of IRS. Now THAT was a great record label!

What’s going on over at Barneys? They must have switched from decaf to regular over at Barneys. A new set of windows already. Scissored pegboard happiness. They’re probably just trying to squeeze in as many windows before Holt Renfrew or Dubai squashes the creativity.

Bucketheads. Quite pail. Quite strange (which is a good thing – it’s been a while since I’ve seen edgier windows at Barneys).

Barney’s Windows, Jan 2010

Barney’s has brought in the new year/decade with fortune cookie windows. I was a bit confused by these when I first saw them. Actually, I still am. I’m assuming that they are a tie-in with the Chinese New Year but that’s not until February 14. Also, the Chinese don’t associate fortune cookies with the new year but rather red envelopes (lai see). Perhaps Barney’s has Valentine Day windows planned and that’s why they’re doing the Chinese New Year ones now. Anyone?

Barneys SNL Holiday Windows, 2009

Barneys Holiday Windows, “Saturday Night Live Tribute”

So… tonight I was making my rounds of shooting windows and strolled over to Barneys. I knew that that they were unveiling their Saturday Night Live themed windows soon but I didn’t know that tonight was the night. Lo and behold, I I get there and there is a major paparazzi-esque crowd forming outside. I jostled my way back and forth and shot the windows as best as I could. I’ll repost the lot once I reshoot them properly.

Barneys’ Holiday Windows Cometh

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

You’ve probably heard by now… Barneys windows for this holiday season will have an SNL motif (Saturday Night Live). Here are a couple of sketches of proposed windows. I’m not sure who the artist of these were.

Barney’s latest windows. No blood or chopped up mannequins. (I can’t believe that I missed that one. Damn!)

Anyway, lots of nice old photographs in this one. I’m not sure what’s up with the “Where the Wild Things Are” window. It seems a bit sparse considering the subject matter. Perhaps it’s just a teaser window and Barneys plans on going all out for the release of the movie coming soon.
